The final thematic exhibition of Times Museum for the year 2015--appropriately called "Redefining: Multiple Perspectives and Possibilities in Network Era"--had its celebratory launch on December 12. The installation not only presents breathtaking works of art but is also a process of research and exploration. Based on the concept of "networks" as a curatorial approach, "Perspectives . . . Possibilities" explores the potential of a new world perception through diverse, shifting views, doing so with keen hindsight while shaping individuality amid a shifting present. The exhibition, which is open to the public free of charge, runs until January 31, 2016.

Curator Shen Ruijun said, "The Internet has exerted a deep and varied influence on our lives, and accordingly this exhibition presents the multiple perspectives and possibilities the Internet has brought forth, including the potential for multiple perceptions and identities. In the past, we obtained information through a limited number of channels, and much of we knew was passé. Today, however, the explosive development of networks--and therefore information--means there is greater diversity, richer content, and a much wider range of perspectives. Therefore, we can examine issues more wisely and deeply. Instead of being led by one or two mainstream voices, collective voices from varied aspects are brought to bear on any given situation. The multiple perspectives this exhibition aims to explore start with thinking about the changes brought about by information networks."

A particular piece in the exhibition, titled "Labyrinth: Smell Molecules," consists of four "empty" boxes created by the "smell artist" Sissel Tolaas. One smell is contained in each box, including HUMAN, WATER, CITY and NATURE. Thus, it is only by touching the wall that the visitor can smell and experience the work. This theme is also presented in the wagon of a Guangzhou tram, and consequently it becomes an integral part of "Smell Molecules of the City: Times Museum Art on Track." As a form of creative interchange, the blending of expressions reflects Times Museum's abiding mission, i.e., to explore contemporary art and gradually spread artistic creation to the wider population throughout the community.
